![]() ![]() ![]() In other news, acclaimed indie game World Of Horror is set to leave Early Access in 2023 after more than three years. “ System Shock offered an unparalleled experience that would solidify it as one of the greatest games of all time.”Īfter a 20-minute hands-on preview of System Shock last September, NME wrote: “All in all, it looks like Nightdive Studios is giving us an updated version of one of the PC’s most venerated titles, reimagining it for a modern audience…There’s a lot to be excited about here.” It was a revolutionary step forward for the medium in a time when developers first began experimenting with interactive story telling. Talking about the original version of the game, Nightdive said: “ System Shock was one of the first 3D games that took a methodical approach to exploration while revealing a story-driven narrative through audio logs and messages scattered throughout the game world. In any case, even if it's paid, i'll be more than happy to support it if it turns out to be good.Last February, the developer confirmed that “ the game can essentially be finished from beginning to end” but the team wanted to spend more time polishing the project. Or do they own the original as well with the licence? Those who owned the original can still install it though.īut since the new EE devs don't own the original, it could be that they can't take it down themselves. Cause THQ Nordic took down the original Darksiders and replaced it with the Warmastered edition in the store. You mean SS2 "non enhanced edition" will still be up for sale? The long road to this System Shock remake started back in 2016, when Nightdive raised 1.35 million via Kickstarter for what it called 'a complete remake of the genre-defining classic from 1994. That's where we get the "Enhanced Edition" from. They used the initial funds from that to develop Kex for it. It's like how SS1 on Steam was distributed. It's just that it will be using a new engine.
